My Peru team gathered again in the last November. It was great seeing most of them again at a member’s house in Jasper, TX, which was about 2 hours away from Houston. We ate and talked endlessly and the host suggested that we’d better go for a walk before the next meal. This lake was where we went for a walk.
With a little bit of rain in the air, the lake looked desolate and uncared for (probably due to being the off-season). Even with the people around me, my mood went down. The host, Dr. Chun, said that it was the only place where her iPhone worked when she moved to Jasper several years ago. She moved all by herself from another state and waited three weeks before her work started. She was a total stranger to Jasper and so was Jasper to her. I sketched her in my head, spending time alone at this lone-feeling lake. I felt submerged, deep down.
